Generally takes mechanics a few weeks to do the conversion (proving they have everything they need. So yeah could blow out to a few thousand $$. I know a mate in vic who did it and was charged $6000 for the job (inc $1k for the engine)

You also need to add whether you want to retain an EA box or go the EJ box presume it is AWD. Someone was making a cradle mount for EJ AWD into Brumby bout $300

i did this conversion for a friend of mine, put ej20T, 5speed. from one rusty, dodgey, brurumby into another, but did a good job of it. took me about a month (first one ive done) and i charged him $1200 (matesrates and coz i was learning) illd quote around two grand, its a bit of mucking around esp with the turbo, intercooler (we went from w2aic to STI a2aic), hydralic clutch, radiator and of course wiring. (which i was over confident about an neally broke. pays to check, no matter how many times youve done it. youve come to right place for info, just search around abit. your not the first, and wont be the last. i its simple (once you have the info) keen to DIY?? cheers Rohan.

Early EJ22 motors are all getting a little long in the tooth. So, if you want one and plan to keep it a while you might be better off with a freshly reconditioned one. Outback bloke had an EJ22 mated up to an L series 5 speed with adapter plate for sale recently. He probably still has it. I recall the motor was still running fine, just low on compression. Might be able to get it all done at once.
